Engineering Technician- NDT

THIS POSITION IS FOR 2nd SHIFT INCLUDING WEEKENDS. DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR 2nd SHIFT WORK SCHEDULE INCLUDING WEEKENDS. OFF DAYS WILL BE TUESDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS. HOURS ARE 3:45PM TIL 11:45PM.

Your role:

In your role as an Engineering Technician, you will work as an experienced member of a team of climatic test operators performing maintenance and operational setup of all test equipment needed to conduct test on military assets. You will be required to plan, implement, setup, monitor, inspect, and collect test data used in evaluating all systems as defined in test plans in direct support of the climatic testing of U.S. Army systems and components at Redstone Test Center.


What you’ll do all day:

  • Plan, implement, setup, and monitor test
  • Collection of test data
  • Troubleshoot test equipment
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to adequately translate data into the proper format for report purposes
  • Program and operate the various automated equipment and computers
  • Interpret customer technical data and design input from engineering team
  • Utilize Standard Operating Procedures, work procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Collaborate with teammates in establishing best practices, workplace organization, and inventory program
  • Work with the on-site maintenance team to instruct and plan for upgrades and improvements to equipment
  • Other duties as required to support the RTC ECC mission

Minimum requirements for this position:

  • Five (5) years of applicable experience supporting engineering or testing of hardware -OR-
    Two (2) years of applicable college/vocational/military/technical school and three (3) years of applicable experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • High school diploma required
  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Pass pre-employment drug test and random drug test program
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively
  • Ability and willingness to work in extreme hot and cold environments


Additional desired skills for this position:

  • Maintenance background helpful
  • Associates Degree in a technical field is a plus
